Mary’s apartment was beautifully furnished with a high end flair and an eye for style. Upon arrival Mary was on the other end of the phone to ensure we arrived safely and was able to access the accommodation. I thought this was a thoughtful touch given the late hour. Upon entering we instantly noted how clean the apartment was. The appliances are of a very high quality so much so that we are wanting to purchase the same washing machine, dryer & fridge for our own home in the U.K. The location was perfectly suited to our needs and having a local bus that took us right into the heart of Melbourne was fantastic! (Bus 250 on Oriel Rd) Although the reason for our stay was sad due to a death in the family having Mary’s apartment to call home was a godsend. Highly Recommended

This is an individual 76 m2, two-bedroom penthouse with it's own security car space, elevator and with 50 mrooftop patio.

Perfect for four, this serene and secluded, new, quality penthouse in the Merida Apartments building has a north and west-facing living & dining area with a reverse-cycle split system air-conditioning system. Two separate doors lead onto an amazing, 50 sqm, north and west-facing, sun splashed, paved alfresco terrace, with sunset views. This means sunny days on the patio all year round, and chilled evenings watching sunsets.

There is a stone kitchen with breakfast bar, and lots of storage space with high gloss, soft-close cabinetry and quality stainless steel European appliances. New, timber-style oak look flooring accents the appealing open-plan living area that looks toward the rooftop terrace through the light-filled living and dining area. Bedrooms offer a queen and double bed with ceiling to floor mirrored sliding door built-in-robes. 

There is also a central bathroom in modern warm, grey tones and full height mirror shaving cabinetry. There is also a European laundry with full size separate washing machine and dryer, and internal access to the security car park via an elevator. (The clearance height when the door is open is 2.2m). Bicycle racks are also available.

All tea, coffee, toiletries, washing and cleaning products and other welcome supplies are supplied. You will need to purchase more of these consumables if you need them for the rest of your stay.

Note from the owner

Having completed my nursing training at the nearby Austin Hospital as a young girl I have been living in and familiar with the area for a long time. It feels like a hidden gem to me - only 10km to the CBD yet plus all the pleasures of Village cinemas, Coles, Bunnings in the huge Northland shopping Centre are a pleasant bonus along with nearby parks. On site there is free parking on and off the property. Everything you need is only minutes away. Austin and Mercy Hospitals are around 2km away with only a short walk to the Repat Hospital. Outside your front door is bus 548 taking you to La Trobe Uni or Ivanhoe shopping with its Railway Station and private school Ivanhoe Grammar.

I love the large open plan living area and a massive private balcony impressively overlooking treetops. It feels so spacious with the open plan design. Admiring the sunset from the balcony while sipping on a quiet drink, is my favourite way to relax before dinner. Make sure you have your camera ready for those stunning hues of burnt orange and lilac sunsets.

Please let us know if you require accommodation to suit pets as this requires approval prior to booking. Location:

The apartment is easy walking distance (about 800m away) to a CBA bank ATM, Post Office, Aldi Supermarket and Chemist Warehouse; all located in the Bell St mall. Parks, schools and bus stops are all close by, with one of Melbourne’s largest shopping, Centres Northland shopping centre, only about 2 km away

Bus Route 548 is located in front of the building; servicing popular stops at La Trobe University and Ivanhoe Station

The area has abundant health care facilities. From 800m to 2km away you’ll find the Austin Hospital, the Mercy Hospital for Women (which combined measure up to be the largest hospital in Victoria), the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre, Warringal Private Hospital and the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital. 

"Burgundy Street" is now known as Heidelberg Central Shopping Precinct and has over 230 retail/commercial and professional businesses. A new supermarket, and many trendy cafes have made the area very liveable.

Over $1 million has been spent over the last 7 years to upgrade the infrastructure of the Precinct e.g. Aerial bundling of overhead power lines, resurfacing of the footpaths and roadways, installation of trees, seating, bollards, bike racks and rubbish bins and painting of all street furniture in the Precinct to 'Burgundy' to suggest the boundaries of the retail strip.

Leo's Fine Food and Wine Supermarket, Safeway, plus 20 cafes and takeaways shops and 12 first class restaurants, mixed with the Warringal Shopping Centre makes this area a vibrant shopping destination. Heidelberg Central is also home to the historic Old England Hotel.

Several educational facilities nearby include the Melbourne Polytechnic which has a campus at Heidelberg West near the Bell Street Mall, as well as the private TAFE college KAL Multimedia Training. The Institute of Health and Nursing Australia, RMIT, Viewbank College and La Trobe Universities are also close by.

There's a market on the weekend nearby at La Trobe University.

Getting There

The easiest way to get to Waterdale Road from anywhere is a taxi, Uber or Ola ride; including from Tullamarine Airport.

The cheapest route from the CBD is to take the train on the Hurstbridge line from Parliament Station in the CBD to Ivanhoe Station, then the 548 bus to Waterdale Road and Bonar Street corner, which is right out front of the 452 Waterdale Road residence.

Getting Around

Bus Stop Route 548 is a few steps from front of the building to La Trobe University, Ivanhoe Station to the City CBD. 
A few minutes away, take a short walk a block away to Oriel Road which provides access to buses for all over Melbourne

Guest Interaction

We send you instructions on how to collect your keys on site from our greeters, once your booking is confirmed. Our office is remote from the residence, so we communicate by phone or email. We always check with you within 24 hours of arrival to make sure that everything is okay, and we are available by phone and email for extended office hours every day.

NOTE: If you only travel on the trams within the city grid, travel is free, and you won't need a Myki card.

30 days or more in advance, the min stay is 7 days

90 days or more in advance, the min stay is 28 days

Portacots and high chairs are available for a small fee - BYO cot linen.

NB: Many of our properties, including this one, are pet-friendly, but only with approval, and as long as they are quiet, and do not damage or climb on the furnishings! Please enquire with us about the pet stay fee and the pet stay security deposit.

*Very early and late arrivals require the following fees to have someone there at these times:

Arrivals between 6:00 am and 9:30 am: $25.00

Arrivals between 5:30 pm and 9:00 pm: $25.00

Arrivals between 9:00 pm and midnight $55.00

Arrivals between midnight and 6:00 am: $100.00

Check in

On check in, the owner of the credit card must be present, and will be asked to: 

·  provide the credit card used for the booking (and the security bond if different)

·  provide the matching photo ID 

·  sign a registration form confirming the receipt of remotes, keys, fobs and parking permits and your acceptance of StayCentral Terms & Conditions; including the authorisation for StayCentral to use the security deposit held by us, or on the relevant credit card, as payment for any expenses as described in the above Terms.

SECURITY BOND

We require a minimum security bond of $600, which increases for pet stays, very long stays and bookings on the day of arrival. The bond will be charged to your credit card used for the booking, up to seven days before your arrival and released after your departure (subject to a damage and excess cleaning check). The bond will be debited for any damage, missing items, excessive cleaning or food or rubbish removal. Any credit cards used may need to be verified by our SecureID security verification process. Cards that cannot be verified may not be accepted, and any payments made may not be honoured. Please enquire with us for more details before making a booking.
