The penthouse is located in one of Fitzroy's iconic, heritage, MacRobertson factories; circa 1880! The boutique warehouse comprises only 17 apartments, and this is the largest. There is a security, undercover garage under the building on the ground floor, with internal access to the elevator and lobby, plus a permit for street parking for a second car. Amongst tree-lined side streets, so close to the main Fitzroy streets and city trams, you’ll be amazed how quiet yet central this penthouse really is!
Set over two levels, this enormous penthouse warehouse conversion is well located to enjoy Melbourne. With lift access, it is a large, light-filled apartment complete with original industrial features, carefully curated historic artwork and a large 20m2 north-facing terrace boasting city views! Green plants are throughout the apartment. (We ask you to water these please. It only takes a few minutes).
Downstairs are two living areas, one of which is two stories high with a stunning green ‘plant wall’. Furniture is bespoke and considered, including original 1970s armchairs by the renowned Australian designer, Tessa.
The kitchen is a cook’s dream with stone bench tops, Victorianox chef knives, a pantry of spices and high-grade appliances. The beautiful, custom-made dining table easily seats 8; the legs were made from the steel barbells stands of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics! At the top of the dining table is an original large painting of the acclaimed Australian artist, Jasper Knight.
An industrial staircase will lead you upstairs, passing an original iconic poster from Melbourne Zoo from the 1980s, a piece of cherished pop culture. Upstairs is a large open plan study (with desk and a sofa bed) and a Queen bedroom, both with bi-fold doors opening onto the large rooftop terrace, that is ideal for relaxation or entertaining.
The spacious loft King bedroom overlooks the living area below. It has a large privacy roller blind that shuts off the open loft ‘wall’. The light-filled bathroom features a bath, and windows with city views allowing you to shower while watching the sunrise over Melbourne! The penthouse is only a very short stroll to the trams, and is surrounded by bustling streets, with their cafes, restaurants, shops, supermarkets and wine bars, and the Eastern Freeway is only 1 km away.

Welcome to our home! We have lovingly restored this property over many years and have filled it with items that to us reflect the heritage and character of the building. We hope you enjoy it and cherish your time in Fitzroy. Please remember to read the Guest Information Folder, which is filled with personal tips on the best cafes, bars and restaurants; all of which are literally on your doorstep. Oh and we’re foodies, on a first name basis with many of the owners around; so rest assured it’s a VERY good list!

It is a two minute walk from the 86 Waterfront City Docklands - Bundoora RMIT tram at the 20-Rose St/Smith St (Collingwood) stop. Nearby parks include Smith Reserve, J. D. Powderly Reserve and Triangle Park.

We always check with you within 24 hours of arrival to make sure that everything is okay, but we are available by phone and email for extended office hours every day.

Arrivals between 22:00 - 08:00: $100.00

Our office is remote from the apartment, so we communicate by phone or email. We are available by phone and email for extended office hours every day
On check in, the owner of the credit card must be present, and will be asked to:
· provide the credit card used for the booking (and the security bond if different). Airbnb excepted.
· provide the matching photo ID
· sign a registration form confirming the receipt of remotes, keys and parking permits and your acceptance of StayCentral Terms & Conditions; including the authorisation for StayCentral to use the security deposit held by us as payment for any expenses as described in the above Terms.
Please ask us about this if it may not be possible.
NB: Many of our properties, including this one, are pet-friendly, but only with approval, and as long as they are quiet, and do not damage or climb on the furnishings! The minimum pet stay fee is $150 and daily fees vary from $20 down to $5 for longer stays.
SECURITY BOND- FOR SOME GUESTS
Under some circumstances, we may require a refundable security bond of $1000 or
more. The bond will be debited for any damage, missing items, excessive cleaning
or food or rubbish removal.
All bookings require a credit card to be held on file for security purposes during your
stay. Any credit cards used must be added by the guest and verified by our
3DSecure security verification process. Cards that cannot be verified will not be
accepted. Please enquire with us for more details before making a booking.
