About StayCentral

Want a better return on your investment property?

Why wouldn't you do something that:

  • gives you a better return on the investment that you have made (than you can achieve with long-term leases),
  • allows you to use the property yourself when you want to,
  • allows your property to be inspected weekly, to avoid major damage occurring (instead of six-monthly, as occurs with long-term rentals), and
  • places your investment property in the hands of managers who specialise in this specialised market (instead of with those who are only used to long-term leases)?

When the owner, Chris, decided to start an accommodation business in St Kilda, he was originally going to become involved in the backpacker market. But he decided that he should buy a nice apartment that he could live in himself, if the backpacker concept failed.

On finding his first apartment in the Majestic, in Fitzroy St, he thought it was too good to offer to backpackers. So the decision was made to offer it to more mature travelers; those who want some very nice, spacious accommodation, but didn’t want to pay expensive hotel prices.

He ran the business with the one apartment for six months, and then started buying more apartments in St Kilda, Southbank and Brunswick, as the demand for really nice apartments grew. Only four years later, with five apartments, his business was known around the world, with guests arriving from many different countries each year; some of them returning guests.

Now you, as his guest, can enjoy the benefits of his experience in creating comfortable ‘homes away from home’, in the CBD, St Kilda, Southbank and Brunswick.

He updates the décor and soft-furnishings regularly, and other inclusions such as LCD TVs and wireless internet access as they come into fashion.

He is looking for more boutique apartments within 4 kilometres of the CBD to give his guests more choice. So if you know anyone who has a very nice investment property and who is interested in this concept, please contact Chris.

We sincerely hope you enjoy your stay with us and welcome any feedback you wish to pass on.

What is a ‘Corporate Apartment’ Anyway?

Some of our guests have been confused initially by the term ‘Corporate Apartment’. Some think a corporate apartment is an apartment that has been converted or designed for office use. Others think it may be for people to live in, but have an office incorporated in the apartment.

Happily, the reality is much simpler and nicer than that.

A ‘corporate apartment’ is simply a normal residential apartment that has a high standard of interior design, which used to be marketed to people in the corporate (or business) world. Because business people often stay for longer periods than the average traveller, or return more frequently, they were highly desirable guests.

So, in order to attract them, very nice apartments are bought in great locations, and an enormous amount of time, effort and money is invested into creating a very comfortable place to stay.

The bonus is that anyone can now stay in these apartments. You don’t have to be a business person.

Guests include holiday-makers including couples and families, couples on romantic long weekends, parents visiting adult children, people having their house renovated or repaird, visiting from interstate or overseas, relocating to another city or country, attending exhibitions, sporting events, theatre, lifestyle or artistic events. The list is endless.

Many of these ‘corporate apartments’ are designed for short-stays for all the above purposes. Often they are set up for servicing on a regular basis, so you don’t need to spend much time doing regular cleans. This is why they are often referred to as ‘serviced apartments’ also. So don’t think that you can’t stay in a ‘corporate apartment’ because you are not from the ‘corporate’ world.

Just decide where you would like to stay, pick a nice, ‘corporate apartment’ or ‘serviced apartment’ that you like the look of, and book it. It’s that simple.

So why rent a serviced apartment rather than a hotel room?

Once upon a time people travelled interstate to cities and simply booked hotel rooms when they wanted to stay a night or a few weeks. If they wanted to save some money they might have stayed in a motel or a motor inn instead. Travellers had to put up with sleeping, eating, living and working out of one small room. Now, many people stay in apartments instead of either of these. So what has changed?

Well, hotel costs went up, especially as they competed to be the biggest and the best. At the same time, many investors who bought apartments decided to rent their properties out for short-term rentals, and offer better quality properties to travellers.

In the end, this is where it stands today.

You can rent a very comfortable, spacious, luxurious apartment for less than the cost of a boring hotel room, and you can cook your own meals, do your own laundry, and relax in comfort.

At StayCentral, you have your own home-away-from-home with:

  • Fully-equipped modern kitchen

  • Your own laundry facilities

  • A proper living area (not just space around a bed) to relax in

  • (including internet access, DVD player, DVDs, games, books etc)

  • Separate, stylish and comfortable bedroom(s)

  • Separate bathroom nice toiletries

  • Designer interior that feels like home

  •
  • High quality sheets & towels etc that will be replaced every week, or you can wash them in between if you prefer
  • A great location; perfectly located close to transport, everyday necessities, restaurants, bars, cafes etc

Some apartments have a swimming pool, small gymnasium or even a tennis court.

StayCentral has all of these features in some apartments, and some of them have all of them.

You can stay for a few days, weeks or several months if you wish.

If you take a closer look at our website, you can now answer the question;

So why would you pay a whole lot more for a boring, cramped hotel room, instead of a luxurious serviced apartment?
